Theoria sits on the east bank of the Wickett River, about forty minutes from anywhere you have heard of. We were incorporated in 1847, annexed Foltz Township in 2023, and are currently operating eleven software systems that do not speak to one another. Village Hall is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, closed the second Wednesday of the month for staff training.
Theoria does not exist. It is a fictional Ohio village maintained by Hypertheory Training as a shared setting for software development courses. Having one town means one set of nouns: a permit is a permit in every class, the address table is the same address table, and nobody has to relearn the domain in order to learn the framework.
The village grows the way real municipalities grow. Departments buy systems independently, the annexation doubled the parcel count, and the integration work is never finished. That is the point. Course exercises are set in departments rather than in the abstract, so the tradeoffs have somebody's actual Tuesday attached to them.
Most of the riverfront parkland came to the village from the Lewis family, who asked in return only that the bandshell be painted blue and that nobody make a fuss about it. Village Council has honored both requests.
